A new collaborative focused on serving the African American community by BUILDING CULTIVATING INNOVATING LEADING

A Statement from The Ubuntu Collaborative

May 22, 2026

It has been 10 days now since the tragic loss of Mrs. Anita Ann Grayson; an elder, a mother, grandmother, and a daughter of our community. Our hearts are heavy with sorrow that words cannot fully express.

To the Grayson family, please know you are held in our prayers. May the God of all comfort surround you with peace during a time that we know has brought a sense of internal conflict. May the love of this community be a steady presence in the days ahead.

Our Continued Commitment

As we believe that it is our responsibility as concerned residents and faith leaders, the Ubuntu Collaborative will remain vigilant as the ongoing investigation surrounding this tragic situation proceeds. We are and will remain committed to our community, to the family, and to the pursuit of truth and grace in every step that follows.

To our community at large, please keep the Grayson family in your prayers.

What is Ubuntu? Ubuntu is a Southern African philosophy that is often translated into “I am, because We are.” This principle is rooted deep within the hearts of the African American Pastors that make up the Ubuntu Collaborative.
