Ubuntu Collaborative Statement on Recent Community Violence
Fort Wayne, Ind. (June 4, 2025) — The Ubuntu Collaborative stands firm in its
condemnation of the senseless violence that has scarred our community this past
weekend. The brutal homicide of 86-year-old Alice F. Hall is an unconscionable act that
demands not only our grief but our collective resolve. Mother Hall was a cherished
resident of Fort Wayne, beloved by her family, friends, and neighbors. Her life mattered
profoundly, and her tragic death must not fade quietly into the background.
In addition to this heartbreaking loss, our community is also reeling from the alleged
domestic homicide of 59-year-old Laron Duane Rosse. This tragic event underscores the
urgent need to address the epidemic of domestic violence that continues to claim lives
and devastate families. We call upon our neighbors, local leaders, and support
organizations to come together in solidarity, fostering safe environments and proactive
measures to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
We have all witnessed the disturbing footage from Pike’s Pub on Friday night. The
violence captured there rightly ignited swift outrage and calls for justice. However, it is
both alarming and disheartening that the equally devastating loss of Mother Hall has
not prompted the same fervor. This disparity forces us to confront a hard truth: our
community must summon equal urgency and accountability for all acts of violence,
regardless of how publicly they unfold.
Violence is unacceptable—whether it occurs in broad daylight or behind closed doors,
whether the perpetrators or the victims look like us or not. The Ubuntu Collaborative
stands on the principle of community betterment, unwavering in the belief that our
responsibility extends to addressing harm no matter its source.
We call upon every member of our community to reflect on this sobering moment. Let it
galvanize us toward unity, courage, and action. We stand in full support of the Allen
County Sheriff’s Office and the Fort Wayne Police Department as they pursue justice
through thorough and transparent investigations. Our hearts grieve, but our spirits remain resolute. Let this be a turning point—where
sympathy evolves into solidarity, and where our collective voice demands not just
justice for some, but justice for all.
